3 County Girls on All-Star Team

Melanie Pearson of Woodbridge High, Marie Philman of Edison and Mater Dei’s Melody Peterson have been selected to play for the South in the California State High School all-star basketball game May 5 at the Bren Center.

Pearson and Philman have signed with UCLA and Peterson has signed with Stanford.

Some of the area’s best girls’ soccer players will compete in the Southern California High School Soccer Coaches Assn. senior All-Star Classic Sunday at Azusa Pacific University.

Seniors from Orange County will play on the South team, which faces the West all-stars at noon. Jeff Pearson, who led El Modena to the Southern Section Division II championship, will coach the South.
